Visualising Data Collection of water points in Mali

For the data collection of water points in Mali by the DNH (Direction Nationale de l’Hydraulique) I created this torque heatmap showing collected data from November 2015 with Akvo FLOW. 25899 points are mapped in two months time.

Hi! My name is Lars Heemskerk. I hold an bcomm in Digital communications and a MSc in data analytics and project management. Over the years I’ve gained experience managing a wide range of projects in different sectors and of different sizes. Working on these projects I realised that I get particularly enthusiastic about projects with a social data driven aim. I’ve experienced how data and new media can improve processes and solve a lot small and large scale challenges.

Having lived and worked in The Netherlands, Australia, Sri Lanka, Benin, Mali and Indonesia I belief I have developed the competence of sound intercultural understanding. I have the ability to easily click with others and understand quickly what needs to be done. I am strong in getting new initiatives off the ground with a can-do and hands-on mentality. Although I can do a great part of my work on my own and on distance , I know it requires teamwork to succeed. I speak, write and read fluently in Dutch, English and French. This combined with my experience and background I can help organisations to make their work more visible and meaningful through interactive data visualisation, website optimisation and applying online marketing strategies.
